Board of Advisors Presentation

November 23rd, 2008

This is a streaming screencast of a presentation I did to the Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies Board of Advisors. Nothing new for folks in the library world.

terabyte, petabyte, exabyte… I learned quite a few things from your presentation, thanks. But I think it’s key to “dissect” what’s in the data, like Google rank them in terms relevance. Libraries did a great job in storing and indexing all the books, but when you deal with that vast amount of data, you need a way to organize it to make it useful.

28 exabytes! Wow, … good time to be in the hard drive or SSD business!
