The Bad, The Good, and The Great

“The Bad, The Good, and The Great” 2nd Annual Wild Wisconsin Winter Web Conference (via pre-recorded video).

ILL provides needed stuff, two cooperating libraries provide the service, and the person we served come to us to tell how successful this was for them. That is great in all types of libraries. But ILL is constantly dubbed as expensive and many libraries try to hide us, automate it completely, or take over the good parts to buy this stuff that was requested, interact with the person we served, and try to be the ones who receive the shared message. When a service can do it all, don’t squash it, but instead use it as a model.

  2. Every librarian, trustee, community leader, etc. should watch this video. Especially the last five or six minutes. Thank you for sharing, David.

David, you’re my hero. Thanks for helping me to remember why I became a librarian in the first place. I’m looking forward to sharing with our staff, board, and Friends, and moving forward with a renewed commitment to what really matters. Sending many good thoughts for healing and peace to you this day.

Wow, just wow. I feel inspired to keep trying to return to the library profession. You remind me of why I wanted to be a librarian in the first place and why I want to be part of the profession still. Not just serving the community but creating a community of people who make each other better for the association.
